According to theKnot:
Tradition: Back in the 19th century, couples saved their top tier for the christening of their first child. Today, couples generally wait a longer period of time after their “I dos” before having children, so they’ll save a slice or tier of cake for their first wedding anniversary.
Preserving the top tier of your wedding cake and eating it a year later is known as an omen for good luck. You’ll get to celebrate your first anniversary together by reliving one of the most special moments you’ve shared.
Easily the weirdest tradition, but we aren’t ones to question traditions soooooo
Good job, Holly! A year later and it still tastes decent and looks beautiful! Team Erasmus for the win!
We ended our busy day with dinner at Del Frisco’s Grille and geez it was good.
It’s been a fun year together: we’ve moved, turned 30, bought a home, traveled internationally, got our sweet puppy, threw out the first pick at the Rangers game, laughed, cried, and loved each other through each day. Cheers to year numero dos and everything God has in store.
Thank you to everyone who loved and supported us a year ago, today, and forever. We are enjoying and surviving this thing called life because of your continued prayers and encouragement. We love y’all!
Congratulations and here’s to many more!
