Today we did the unthinkable: We laid 6 year old Parker to rest. The funeral was beautiful, standing room only, and he was memorized perfectly.
The pastor reminded us to continue covering this sweet family in prayer in the days, weeks and months ahead. The hard parts are still before them as they ease into their new definition of normal. One thing he said that I️ absolutely loved was that anytime this family comes to mind or a memory reaches your heart, tell them, reach out to the family in anyway you can because that’s the holy spirit speaking to you and we should share Gods presence with each other.
It was about a week after our wedding that Don’nell came by my office to check in and catch up. We were talking about the wedding, I️ think he told me he’d never been to a wedding on a golf course, and that Kacy nearly ate it walking down the aisle. I️ told him I️ remembered seeing them at the ceremony but not the reception, to which his face went stern and he said “We had to leave because I️ turned around and both boys had their pants down, watering the grass.”
Precious Memories – My favorite version by Wade Bowen
Precious memories, unseen angels,
Sent from somewhere to my soul.
How they linger, ever near me,
And the sacred past unfolds.
Precious memories how they linger,
How they ever flood my soul.
In the stillness, of the midnight.
Precious sacred scenes unfold.
Precious father, loving mother
Fly across the lonely years
and old home scenes of my childhood
in fond memory appears
Precious memories how they linger,
How they ever flood my soul.
In the stillness, of the midnight.
Precious sacred scenes unfold.
I remember Mother praying
Father too, on bended knee
the sun is sinking, shadows falling
but their prayers still follow me
Precious memories how they linger,
How they ever flood my soul.
In the stillness, of the midnight.
Precious sacred scenes unfold.
Precious memories fill my soul.
Hugs. So hard to understand why these thing happen. He was truly loved.
