9.29.22 Girl Gang

By now y’all should know about my girl gang, Her ALS Story. We spent some time together in Madison, WI and it was everything we dreamed it would be.

15 women diagnosed with ALS before the age of 35 came together from around the country for a few days of love, laughter, support, and all the cheese. Most of us were meeting for the first time, but we have been celebrating this community for over a year. These women, and others who were unable to join, are what make this disease bearable.

We’re still rolling out recaps and highlights from the trip on our social media platforms, but I wanted to share a few of my favorites with you. ALS is extremely isolating so to find women that know exactly what I’m experiencing, what I’m struggling with, and that are mostly in the same season of life has been a Godsend.

I cannot say thank you enough to everyone who donated, helped us, and supported our time together. This trip happened because of so many great organizations and people, the love was felt by everyone in attendance. A HUGE thank you to Erin and her family and friends for planning the event, taking care of us, and for every single detail they made sure was covered.

Tequila is a common theme amongst our members and we’re learning that feeding tube shots are the most efficient way to consume. Personally I fell in love with a beer called Spotted Cow which paired perfectly with all the cheese I could get my hands on.

Never underestimate the power of showing up for each other. This trip reminded us that we are tougher than this disease. We’re already scheming for our next adventure together.
