Nothing screams Sunny quite like starting the new year on the 13th day, and a Friday the 13th at that. If I’m going, I’m going to be late, it’s just who I am at my core. Have no fear, the chaos continues. The first 13 days of of this year have caused me to step back, listen first then speak, and to embrace the suck as well as the good. All of these actions are not my default so I’m reworking my immediate response for one that is more in-depth.

Looking back on last year’s desire to share more, be more transparent, it’s obvious that I failed miserably. The good part of “new year new me” mantra is that do overs are allowed. I’d also like to include goals of being consistent, a disrupter, and taking up space for myself. Do I know what that means entirely? No. Do I have a checklist for accomplishing these goals? No. Am I learning as I go? Yes.

2022 was a year of extreme happiness, travel and success. You’d think it would have been easier to be more transparent through those experiences but here we sit. This is where being consistent comes into effect and, by combining the two, strengthens my confidence in seeing this through.

2022 was also a year of deep reflection, soul shaking revelations, and unexpected growth. Having the word “disrupter” on my heart happened long before watching Glass Onion, it’s even funnier to acknowledge the parallels between the characters vanity and my own desire to be heard. Throw in my declaration of taking up space and the old Sunny would likely apologize for being so self centered. Let’s just say I’m working on it.

So what I’m saying is that I’m just a girl standing in front of her audience asking to be heard. I’m looking forward to digging into these concepts further throughout 2023. Happy New Year to you and yours!
