FORT WORTH WALK TO DEFEAT ALS LOGISTICS AND FAQ

The Walk to Defeat ALS is almost here! To make sure you are ready for the big day, we’ve put together some logistical information below.

Fort Worth Walk to Defeat ALS

  • Saturday, October 19
  • 9:00AM – 11:30AM
  • Trinity Park, Pavilion #3 (2401 University Drive, Fort Worth, Texas 76017)

Schedule:

  • 9:00AM – Registration opens
  • 9:50AM – Program starts
  • 10:15AM – Walk starts
  • 11:30AM – Event ends, join us at the after-party!

Please note that this schedule is subject to change

After the Walk, join us just around the corner for the After-Party at Concrete Cowboy (2901 Crockett Street), hosted by SunnyStrong. EVERYONE is welcome.

Check-In and Registration

Remember, checking in, participating in our Unlock ALS activity and finding your team will take some time, so please arrive at 9:00am to ensure you have enough time before the Walk. When you arrive, you will go to the Check-in and Registration tent. People who have not yet registered can do so at the tables. You can also submit any donations in the form of cash, check or credit card at this time. Once you are checked in, you will receive a slip of paper that indicates your individual Fundraising Recognition level. You will then go to the next tent to pick up your t-shirt (if you raised $100), backpack (if you raised $250), coffee tumbler (if you raised $500) or long-sleeved t-shirt (if you raised $1,000), depending on your individual level of fundraising.

Unlock ALS

Next, you will visit our Unlock ALS Tent. At the Unlock ALS tent, you will select a lanyard that best represents your connection to the mission:

White: Walking in Memory

Red: To Support the Fight

Blue: Walking in Honor of Someone Living with ALS – THAT’S YOU!

Kristin the Great Sent Me This from a previous Walk!

Yellow: I am a Person with ALS

Then, you will be asked to write why you want to Unlock ALS on a paper key and hang it alongside other messages of hope.

Team Signs

You are welcome to bring your own team signs. We will also have a team sign already created for you by our volunteers available, and will also have posterboard, markers and paint sticks for anyone who wishes to make a sign at the Walk..

How Long is the Walk? The Walk is approximately 3 miles, and should take about 1-1.5 hours to complete. We will have a water station / rest stop at the half-way point.

What About Parking? Free parking is available at Farrington Field, a short walk away from our Walk to Defeat ALS area. Signs and volunteers will guide the way to available parking. We will have a designated area for Top Team parking and Patient Parking. Team captains of Top Teams and patients will be provided with a parking pass to gain access to this parking lot. There is handicap drop-off available (as indicated by signage). Our location and parking is indicated on the map below. We will also have a shuttle available to take people to and from the parking lot (although please note that space is limited).

Fort Worth Walk Map

Will There be Food and Beverages? Yes! We will have complimentary fruit, cotton candy, popcorn, water, tea and lemonade available. After the Walk, join us at Concrete Cowboy for the After-Party (food and beverages available for purchase).

What Can I Bring?

You are welcome to bring:

  • Dogs (please keep them on a leash and bring your own water bowl)
  • Snacks and other food
  • Non-alcoholic beverages
  • Your own team shirts, signs, etc.
  • Umbrellas (in case of rain)
  • Lots of team spirit!

Please do not bring:

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Tents

My Team Captain Mentioned a Tent… Do We Have a Tent?

Teams that raise more than $10,000 will have a 10×10 tent. Check with your team captain to see if your team has hit the $10,000 goal.

Please do not bring additional tents, as we want to ensure the safety of our Walk participants and would be concerned about windy conditions. Tents will be labeled with their team name.

If you have any questions, please email christina@alstexas.org
